eTool Revit plugin version history
What changed in each release of the Revit plugin, and which Revit versions each build supports. Useful for checking whether the fix you need is already in the version you have.
Two plugin lines are currently maintained. Version numbers run in a single sequence across both.
| Version | Revit support | Distribution |
|---|---|---|
| v8.0 | 2025–2027 | Standalone only |
| v7.0 |
2022-2024 2024 |
Autodesk App Store Standalone only |
| v6.1 | 2022–2023 | Standalone only |
| v6.0 | 2017–2021 | Standalone recommended — the App Store no longer installs on these versions by default |
Plugin releases are versioned separately from eTool platform releases, so a plugin version won't correspond to an eTool release number. Dowload Revit plugins from the following article: Install the eTool Revit plugin
Features for v8.0
- New plugin targeting Revit 2025–2027. This is a separate plugin rather than an update, because Autodesk changed the framework Revit is built on from Revit 2025 onward. It can run side by side with older plugin versions or the Autodesk Store version if your work spans multiple Revit versions.
- Branding changes.
- Minor bug fixes.
Features for v7.0
- Single Sign-On (SSO) support.
- Out-of-the-box support for Revit 2024.
- Minor bug fixes.
Released as a standalone installer ahead of Autodesk App Store availability.
Features for v6.1
- Support for Revit 2022 and Revit 2023.
Revit 2024 could be enabled on this version by modifying PackageContents.xml — see Troubleshoot the eTool Revit plugin. If you're on v6.1 for Revit 2024, upgrading to v7.0 is the better path.
Features for v6.0
- Better error recovery. After an internal Revit error during design analysis, the plugin resumes from where analysis stopped rather than failing the whole run.
- Clearer error reporting. Users are notified of the extent of any parsing issues, and an internal error log is updated.
- Logon token timeout issue corrected.
- API changes.
- Minor bug fixes.
Features for v5.1
- Contextual help. Pressing F1 over the eTool tab in Revit opens the support site.
- Digital signing. The publisher now correctly identifies as eTool PTY LTD during install and run, rather than "Unknown".
- Fixed: a single badly behaving Revit element could previously halt the entire upload to eTool if it couldn't be parsed.
Features for v5.0
- Diagnostic reporting. The plugin automatically relays error code, Revit version and plugin version to help diagnose problems.
- Link handling. URLs that previously couldn't be clicked can now be copied or opened directly in the browser.
- Deprecation enforcement. If the eTool API changes, affected plugin versions are disabled and users prompted to update, rather than allowing an outdated plugin to operate unsafely.
- Network connection and eTool availability check on start-up.
- Minor bug fixes.
Features for v4.0
- Bundled for the Autodesk App Store.
Features for v3.0
- Improved performance on very large Revit models.
Features for v2.0
- Progress messages added to the Update Design process.
Features for v1.0
- Log in to eTool from within Revit.
- Link designs between Revit and eTool.
- Export components from a Revit model to eTool.
- Match Revit components with eTool library templates in eTool.
